Helping Hands Advocacy and Support was created with the special education student and their families in mind. Founded by Jessica Hensley, who found a need for special education support and advocacy for parents with children in the school setting. She left the public-school setting in 2024 to begin the journey of helping families receive the most support that their child can receive. Hensley has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (Liberty University), Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education (Liberty University), Master of Education in Educational Leadership (University of Cincinnati); licensed in Ohio and Virginia; paired with ten years experience in the public-school special education setting from grades K-12. Having a child with special needs of their own, she found this area near and dear to her heart and has become her passion for life. She is also a member of Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), Autism Society of Central Virginia (ASCV). She hopes that she can provide the services that you need to help your child succeed, find a positive solution and to be empowered with information as their parent/guardian.
